ETERNAL RAINBOWS BY PARVATI CHATTOPADHAYAY
June 30 - August 31, 2009
While visiting the Summer Pavilion, do not miss Parvati Chattopadhayay's installation above the Goldfish Pond. Through optics and advanced hydro engineering, she has created a permanent rainbow mist. The rainbow moves and changes appearances in what resembles a 27 hour life cycle. Visitors will see the rainbow grow, generate offspring and fade away. The offspring also follow the life cycle. At any given moment visitors will see rainbows in various stages of their 27 hour lives. In this installation, as with Chattopadhayay's other pieces, she wants to highlight life's fragility, beauty and hope.
